Anyone not use a scale ?

Just wondering if anyone does not use a scale to measure their sucess. After reading about the GI Diet, Rick recoomends to only weigh oneself once a month - and use a tape measurer to measure your waist. Does anyone not use a scale? I live in a rural area and need to go out and buy one but was thinking of alternatives..

Spring into action

Well after a long hiatus, Im back at tracking and getting back into shape!

I saw crocuses today which made me happy - spring is definitely here! My goal is to lose 11 pounds to be in my healthy BMI range. This week im really paying attention to what i eat and managing my environment including lots of healthy foods.

trying to get fit not fat

This week has been so so for me. I have been journaling what i’ve been eating pretty much every day and its shocking. I mean i was thinking i could lost weight and eat whatever I wanted. Well its not true! Time for me to wake up.

In other news, i started a new exercise regimen 2 weeks ago which includes jogging in 20 minute bouts and swimming. This week i went jogging 2x and swimming today. Hoping to lose 10 pounds by christmas and hope i can do it.

Also, i have started my own blog which has a menu etc.. check it out if you want and if you have any tips on managing diabetes message me :)

The C Challenge! Day 2

Hello everyone - hope everyone is having a fabulous day

So it is day 2 of my c challenge. Why C? Well I was thinking about all the unhealthy foods that start with c like cake, cookies, cream, chocolate and my plan is to avoid all these things that start with a c… However not all things are bad that start with a c like cherries .. Day 2 has just begun and im feeling good about this challenge… im going to try it for a week  and see how it goes

Slim down for summer

So going to the doctor’s made me realize I need to slim down for health reasons, losing even 10 pounds makes a huge difference in terms of lowering blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and strain on the heart. So my new summer goal is to lose 10 pounds by my birthday.

Im trying to eat healthy and hopefully documenting everything i eat will also help me to slim down. Im also trying to exercise for at least 30 minutes every day. Anyone have any other tips on losing 10 pounds in 2 months? Do you think this is reasonable?

rewards for weight loss efforts

So i’ve been scheming about how to set up a weight loss rewards system - drawing on the notion of Pavlov’s dog - Im hoping that with continual rewards I will condition myself to eating healthily all the time.

My eating guidelines are to avoid all baked goods, chocolates and chips, as these are my downfall. For every day that I eat heathily and avoid these things I will place a dollar in a jar. Then after a week I can purchase a non-food item as a reward.

What do you do as a reward for yourself? Do you find these systems work?

Today i will be placing $1 in the jar.

No eating after 7pm (attempt 2)

So Im starting the no eating after 7pm plan again, I find it so tough, but I know that if I can do it it would really help my dietary efforts.

I tend to eat too much junk at night and snack mindlessly. So tonight all I had was a half can of diet coke after 7pm and I feel fine.

The weather here is gorgeous and I can’t wait to start spending more time outside. Good luck to everyone!

Following the easter egg trail

Well following the easter egg trail, although it seems innocent and sweet is actually a bad experience for me and probably many of us trying to lose weight around easter time. So many precious little chocolate eggs lying around at school, work make it hard to resist. I said to myself just one but that turned into a handful or two -

These last few days I’ve just been eating whatever foods and not really paying attention to what im eating - I need to get back on track — i would like to lose some weight for health reasons and obviously to look good for summer.

One thing I am proud of, last night I went to the convience store to buy some chips and then I was in the store, looked at all the calories in one bag of chips and decided against it! Just doing the math makes it not worth it! So i didn’t end up buying any chips, i did make some popcorn later that night though…

Recuperating after day of decadence

So today I am trying to get back on the eat-well wagon after indulging in a few too many sweets ect yesterday! Wish me luck!

Im going to eat a healthy lunch and dinner and Im also going to try and stop eating by 7pm! This time is usually the weak point in my day, I will eat well for morning and afternoon and then by the time after dinnner comes I just eat junk so IM going to try and stop this and hope for the best.

Has anyone tried stopping eating by 7pm ?

IM also going to try and go for a swim today. Oh , and get some work done

Boulangerie et moi

So yesterday I went to montreal and had a fabulous time, which included getting the menu du jour at a boulangerie - c’etais superbe!

Today is pie day (3, 14) so I went out and bought a mini pie to celebrate — I figure life is too short not to celebrate - and although this isn’t exactly diet food, I figure once in a blue moon won’t hurt. :) It is really cute with a pretty star pattern (raspberry) In other food news, I also bought a pineapple and tried some medium bodied wine with a tiny piece of dark chocolate — mmm

So im hoping these little splurges won’t hurt my new healthy eating plans too much — ha ha , well i went to the gym this morning so that should help!

Perhaps I’m too much of a foodie to be on this website?
